From the President

Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to read up on what’s happening around the Toowoomba AFC over the next couple of weeks.

This Saturday, the 19th of July, we are all playing at Heritage Oval against South Toowoomba. The following week our whole club, plays at home against Highfields. Both of these weekends are important games for all age groups, and I wish all players the best of luck with their respective games.

The Highfield’s game on Saturday 26th of July will also double as our Grandparent’s and Sponsor’s day. On this day, we are encouraging our kids to invite their grandparents along to watch them play footy and support the Club. During the day, we will have the “Jungle Wheel” in full swing, with the chance of winning one of several $50 draws throughout the day. It will also be a day were we acknowledge the support our valued sponsors have provided the club this year.

Chocolate Drive: Our Chocolate Drive has been a great way of raising much needed cash for our club, and I thank everyone for their efforts in selling chocolates so far. This Thursday night at training we will have volunteers in the canteen receiving money from your sales. We still have a few boxes left for sale, so if anyone is interested in selling a few more chocolates or if you haven’t collected a box yet, there will be more available at the canteen on Thursday night.

One of the biggest questions on most people’s shivery lips with the current “balmy” weather we have been having recently is - where are the Hoodies????? I can tell you that a significant amount of work has gone into the actual ordering process of these quality garments– unfortunately these items are not simply ordered one week and arrive the next – if it was only that easy!!! A number of issues have had to be addressed from design, colouring, font sizing, colouring of sponsor’s logo’s, numbers, sizing – the list goes on. We are really hoping to have them on our supporters by Sponsor’s day – if not shortly thereafter. I’d like to thank Nadine and Box for their time in chasing this up for the club.

Our next club meeting will be held on Monday the 4th of August at 7pm at Delacy’s. This will be a very important meeting as we will be discussing the under 8’s & 10’s Carnival, Grand Final week and the all-important Presentation Day. Each of these events will require assistance from every team in the club, so come along and put in some ideas, find out that we are all about having a good time while enjoying our footy, and support our club and sponsors!!
