Womens match report

Round 2 -  29.5.17       Toowoomba    v    Dalby

The Tiger Women started the season in the same fashion as they finished the 2016 season. After a disappointing start to the season last week receiving a forfeit, they were very keen for a game.

Playing a Dalby team who were without a number of their star players the Tigers provided them with some of their own. Jana, Abbey, Chelsea and Zali all put on the Swannies colours.

The Tigers kicked their first goal within a minute and then continued in that form for the 1st quarter leading  9.3..57 to 0 at quarter time. Emily was showing how she just loves to play the 1st game of the season kicking 7 in the first  and finishing with 11 (she kicked 9 in her 1st game last year). The midfield was working well getting the ball into the 50 quickly for the fowards to dominate.

The team was changed around at quarter time and this saw some of the players kick their first ever goals in footy, Bec got a couple goals and Lisa also scored one. Dalby was able to slow the Tigers goals through  solid defence helped by Abbey, Zali and Chelsea. Dalby were using Jana in the ruck and she was very competitive against Lauren and Emily, but the midfield of Maz, Lilly and Sally were dominant.

In the 3rd quarter Jayde was able to get into the action kicking some goals along with Jessie getting a couple. We didn't have the same amount of time and space as Dalby were able to close us down pretty well and we were only able to score 4 goals in  each of the next terms.

Carlee and Jemma were great on the wings and provided run into the forwards, along with Kel and Jessie being  link up players across half forward. Our defence of Jess and Chari was tested at times but held out brilliantly.

Final Scores were Tigers 23.21.159 to Dalby 0.0.0

A good start to the season but we need to keep pushing ourselves and working as a team.

Training is on Thursday at 6 pm and we play Lockyer/ Warwick at Kratzke Oval, Highfields on Saturday at 2.10 pm.
